By | Last Updated: 11 October 2023

Your water heater crashes and you're in a crunch to buy a new one--fast! With so many options out there, it's wise to do your homework before the flood gates open (literally). Whether you choose to stick with a big 'ol tank, or to go tankless there are several considerations in purchasing and installing your next water heater.

That's where The Tankless Experts can help! To get started, ask yourself the following questions:

What is your preferred energy source?

What is the climate where the unit will be installed?

  • Cold Climate

What is the approximate incoming water temperature? How many bathrooms will the unit supply hot water?

Is there a shower with multiple shower heads?

Are any faucets more than 25 feet from the water heater? How many simultaneous uses are there for hot water?

Gas Specific

Is there an exterior wall to vent a gas unit through?

What's the approximate distance from the gas meter to the water heater?

What's the gas line size? (inside diameter)

  • 1/2"
  • 3/4"
  • 1"

Electric Specific

How many amps are coming into the bulding where the unit will be installed? Available Voltage?

  • 208V
  • 220V
  • 240V

There are several other considerations, but we'll let you answer these questions before we move along to the next subject.
